Small, quiet apps for sitting with what doesn’t resolve.
Made with restraint — no accounts, no analytics, nothing competing for your attention — and made in support of a medieval church still in use.
The apps
Threshold
One line a day, at a moment you don’t choose — from scripture, philosophy, and the world’s contemplative traditions. Not to resolve anything, but to sit with what hasn’t resolved.
Visit ThresholdStillpoint
A quiet timer for Lectio Divina and silent prayer. Nothing to track, nothing to optimise — a still point to return to.
In preparationIson
A sustained drone for Gregorian chant practice, alongside a slow, repeated reading of scripture.
In preparationThe project behind them
Unsay Apps is a very small maker of contemplative apps. Each one holds to a single practice and tries to stay out of its way. The name is a note to itself: to take away rather than add, to say less.
- One practice per app. Nothing bundled, nothing that grows to fill the screen over time.
- No feeds, streaks, or badges. Nothing to keep up, nothing lost by putting the phone down.
- No accounts, no analytics. None of the apps ask who you are, and nothing about your use is sent anywhere.
- An apophatic aesthetic. Saying what something is by what it leaves out — quiet type, dark backgrounds, room around every line.
Why they exist
In support of St Peters, Kirby Bellars
Threshold, and the apps that follow it, are made to help fund the ongoing restoration of St Peters, Kirby Bellars — a Grade I listed medieval church in Leicestershire, England, still in active worship.
The apps are free. Any giving they prompt goes to the church directly. You can read about the building and the restoration at stpeterskirbybellars.co.uk.
Privacy
None of these apps collect anything — no sign-in, no analytics, no record of how you use them sent anywhere. The few places where something leaves your device do so only because you chose it, and are set out plainly, for every version, in the privacy policy.
